A series of clinical trials conducted in Japan have also proved to be highly positive. The subjects of this trial were offered with a single dose of 14mg Resveratrol before they went to sleep. This trial went on for a period of 16 weeks, where the men were either made to take a placebo, a 500mg dose of Resveratrol or a 75mg dose of Resveratrol two times a day.

According to the results of the trial, men who took the 500mg dose of Resveratrol saw an increase of almost 2.6% in terms of the volumetric bone mineral density of the lumbar spine. Moreover, the group of men who were offered a higher percentage of Resveratrol also managed to see a 16% increase in the BAP levels (Bone formation marker Alkaline Phosphatase levels) when compared to the rest of the group.

Marie states that the findings of this study state that the Resveratrol can actually stimulate the bone-forming cells within the human body. She also mentions that within just four months of being offered with a high dose of Resveratrol, the study observed a significant increase in the BAP levels as well as improvements in the bone mineral density.

Marie believes that this study has actually offered the scientific world with highly encouraging results. The team grew acne-causing bacteria and then used different combinations of Benzoyl peroxide and Resveratrol to see which combinations worked the best. These cultures were monitored for 10 days to record the level of bacteria growth or bacteria killing. Benzoyl peroxide displayed a great ability to kill acne-causing bacteria in all concentrations, but its effects were short lived. On the other hand, Resveratrol did not display a decent killing capability, but it managed to inhibit bacteria growth for a longer period of time.

Initially, experts were against combining Resveratrol and Benzoyl peroxide because Resveratrol is a known anti-oxidant and Benzoyl peroxide is an oxidant. Thus, it was thought that they would cancel out each other’s effects. However, reports suggest that this was not the case. They proved to be a formidable combination because they portrayed anti-bacterial activity in the initial stages as well as a sustained bacterial growth inhibition.

According to Dr. Emma Taylor, one of the researchers associated with the UCLA study, the study shows that combining antioxidants with oxidants can enhance the effectiveness of each ingredient in fighting bacteria over a long period of time. The team had administered Resveratrol sulfates into mice to further their research. They subsequently managed to detect the presence of free Resveratrol in a variety of tissues and the plasma of mice. Researchers used the subject’s urine and tested them for Resveratol metabolites, instead of asking participants to record their intakes in order to produce effective and accurate results. The study also ensured that less than 1% of its participants took herbal supplements, minerals or vitamins of any kind. Therefore, any increase in the byproducts of Resveratrol could be directly attributed to the food items and drinks consumed.

According to reports, about one-thirds of the participants died during this 9-year study. Furthermore, 4.6% participants developed cancer while 27% of the participants developed cardiovascular diseases. The study revealed no differences in the inflammation, cancer or cardiovascular disease rates, irrespective of whether the participants took Resveratrol or not. Upon first glance, it might come across as a major disappointment for all Resveratrol enthusiasts because the study actually shows that the Resveatrol in the food does not offer any visible benefits to the human body.

However, this was something that was already suspected by experts.
